About

The Beer Bagger Challenge (BBC) is about sharing the love of craft beer. It includes elements of a scavenger hunt and good times at the pub with old friends and new. It involves strategy, intrigue and a lot of laughs.

How it works

Members win points by drinking beer. One doesn’t win points for drinking (“bagging”) just any beer, though. The beer must be brewed at a craft brewery in a designated geography (e.g. the lower mainland of British Columbia) and it must be named on the monthly “chit list”.

Each month, a new chit list is introduced with 9 named brews and 1 wildcard. Members typically print this list and carry it in their wallet. (A great conversation-starter at the brewery or pub!)

When a member drinks a beer on the list, (s)he logs the accomplishment on the leaderboard and shares a photo of the deed on a secret Facebook page (the “online pub”)… this to prove to fellow baggers that the deed was actually done.

How and where a beer is bagged is important. Maximum points go to baggers who bag beers at the brewery with other members.

A bagger who bags all 9 beers on the chit list and their wildcard within a given month earns coveted Golden Hop status. Ka ching!

A bagger who bags all qualifying beers with the most points, earns additional recognition and a free beer!

A bagger who earns 12 Golden Hops is recognized as a Beer Bagger Meister. This is the highest, most-respected role in the BBC. These are the folks who select the beer that is named each month.
